Will the real NFL please stand up, I repeat, will the real NFL PLEASE stand up?

Why are the Atlanta Falcons the best team in the NFL? What is wrong with the world? Is it because we have a black president? Maybe it’s because we made a rapper named, “Wacka Flocka” a household name, but for whatever reason the NFL has turned on its side this season.

The worst part about the Falcons having the NFL’s best record is that they’re actually legit. They win close ball games, they blow bad teams out, and they are unbeatable at home. Matt “Matty Ice” Ryan has lived up to his moniker, leading his team to a 10-2 record and coming up with two late, game-winning drives in his last two games.

Roddy White looks like one of the most dangerous receivers in the NFL, Michael Turner is a flat-out monster and Matty Ice is about as cool as the back of your freezer under pressure.

The key to their surprising success is on the defensive side of the ball. The Falcons are holding opponents to less than 100 yards rushing per game (8th-best in the league). Brent Grimes and William Moore each have four interceptions and Curtis Lofton leads the team in tackles with 95.

Of their final four games, only one team – the Saints – has a winning record (two of those games are against the Carolina Panthers, so you might as well chalk those up as victories).

They have the proper formula to be a Superbowl team, and if they finish atop the NFC, all roads to Dallas will come through Atlanta; advantage, Falcons.
