After becoming a laughing stock in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys finally won another game, defeating the New York Giants last weekend 33-20.

The Cowboys are known to usually do pretty well; however, this year is a major disappointment to their fans. Last year at this point in the season, the Cowboys were 6-3, while this year they are 2-7. On the other hand the Giants are 6-3 this year, while last year at week 11 they were 5-4. The Cowboys started the game strong with the help of receiver Dez Bryant, leading the first half 19-6 against the Giants. The Giants were able to come back and add a few more points on the board during the second half, but the 14 points scored in the third quarter were no match to the Cowboys whopping 33 points to finish the game.

The irony of this game is what makes it so interesting. The Giants, who were performing so well in the season, lost to the Cowboys whose record is tied with the Detroit Lions (who won 1 game last season). The Cowboys head coach, Wade Phillips, was fired the week prior to the Giants game, leaving Jason Garrett as the interim head coach. Amazingly, with the replacement of the coach, the Cowboys are playing much better, and won a game this season.

After the devastating defeat, the Giants are now preparing to play against the Philadelphia Eagles who are 6-3 this season. The Eagles demolished the Washington Redskins last week, scoring 28 points in the first quarter of the game and ending the game 59-28. This will most likely be a very intense game because they are two of the best teams in the league right now, and the recent loss to the Cowboys should not alter the Giants.

If anything, the loss to Dallas should make the Giants want to win even more to maintain their ranking. With a new coach and a strong win from last week, Dallas should be more confident to continue winning games. This week they play the Detroit Lions, who are currently 2-7 as well. This game will also be intense- two of the worst teams in the NFL fighting for a win and a better reputation.
